I have the hakkapelitta r2. Really good!

I’ve used the Cooper Discoverer M=S winter tire with studs and had excellent results with them. They don’t come in the size I need this year so I’m looking around now, the Cooper weathermaster WSC looks like an awesome tire, I’m interested in the Hakkapelliita 9’s but don’t want to spend the money if they aren’t truly the “best” there is when I can get Coopers that work awesome for much less. I’m considering going with the General Altimax Artic winters this year, they seem to get good reviews. One thing I have noticed on a lot of tire review sites I have looked at is people talking about using their winter tires year round, how ridiculous is that? People do realize that winter tires are made much softer so in really, really cold temps they still stay somewhat soft compared to all season or summer tires. If you use winter tires at temps of over 8 degrees celcius or so they begin to wear much faster, if you are using them in 35 degree celcius summer tempertatures you’re an idiot.

I’ve heard about the Michelin dry rot, but I’ve also heard of the Blizzak being only good for the first half of its life…it’s tread is sponge but after wearing down it sucks

I’m looking for some advice for my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. I’ve posted on many sites and got no response. I currently run stock all season Yokahama Geolandar G91F. Seeing if I should stay with these for my winter driving or get winter snow tires or winter performance tires. I live in Lake Stevens Washington. I’m in between Seattle (rain, slush, some ice and snow, many hills), and Snohomish and Monroe witch creeps towards the mountains which I don’t travel much, but on some occasions 2-3 times a year. I’m looking at the Ice-X and Bridgestone Ws80. Also getting very fascinated with the Nokian brand. I’m peeking the Nordman 5’s, Hakk 7’s, Hakk 8’s if I can find them unstudded. Or the R2’s. Are Nokians overkill for the area and conditions I described, and can they wick water well, and can they handle dry payment and still handle well for my car. I want to pre-prepare now, or want to know if I should stand firm with the tires I already have. Or, you can advise me on something different. You seem to know what you’re talking about.

Thanks

I have had Blizzak and Hakkapelitta and today I use General Artimax.
Best bang for buck. Good Brazilian rubber.

I had the Michelins on my car and the Winter Contact SI too. I would definetly choose the Conti SI. The Michelin had no safty reserves on snow and ice. I felt unsecure with the Xice 3. The Bridgestone i drove for testing and it felt not that comfortable on wet and ry. In winter better than the Michelin but not as good as the Contis.
