Top 5 – 2018 Gravel Tyres

Gravel riding covers a broad range of terrain from hard pack dirt roads, rocky paths and stretches of single track. This means tyre choice is broad so have a look at our pick of some of the better gravel specific tyres on the market.

John Ble says:

Can I use any of these tyres on my 29er XC hardtail?

Michele Gardini says:

Michelin wildgripper lite s still works good on my ”26 :)

Chris says:

I run a WTB Riddler 45c in front (which is 42c in reality…) and a Specialized Sawtooth in the back on my gravel bike/gravel tourer. Best of both worlds.

*I have a question to ask: I’m about to buy a good carbon fiber bike and I don’t know if I should go for a DISC BRAKE ROAD BIKE or RIM BRAKE. My previous experience with disk brakes was with specialized MTB, however they were quite annoying sometimes with squealing and stuff. Is it really worth it?*

glitch107 says:

Specialized Sawtooth 700x42C

the rambler reminds me of crossmark

Rick Dangerous says:

Byway or the highway! 47c.

(I own Maxxis Ramblers but road plus has the volume)

Jonathan S says:

No Compass or Vittoria?

Евгений Чугунов says:

Hi. I would like buy tyres 700*40.Can you tell me, schwalbe g-one or wtb nano?Thank you!

michwoz says:

Why are those tyres so expensive though? They look like typical cross (hybrid) bike tyres. This seems like reinventing… the wheel and asking extra money for it.

pastafari Fsm says:

can you do a review of the orbea laufey?

Scott Pessetto says:

What is the thumbnail bike?

Máté Horváth says:

No gravelking? Come on..

fripp555 says:

Schwalbe G one speed 30mm. Very fast on hill climbs for a gravel tire.

Hansthehorrible says:

The Flintridge pro is a great all-around tire without doubt

Hasan Tosun says:

scott spark RC 900 SL

Jason Strohbehn says:

Maxis Rambler all the way!!

sabamacx says:

Schwalbe G-One or bust.

redetrigan says:

The gravel lobby strikes again

Calvin Pessl says:

schwalbe X-one series for muddier conditions and G-one for hardpack and mroe tarmac. The G-one speed set up tubeless has ridicilously low rolling resistance.
i even will buy it as a rear tire for my rigid 29er in 2.35in. With 55 psi and tubeless they have a rolling resistance of 9.3 watts vs a conti Gp 4000 in 25mm at 100 psi has 12.9 watts. So if i know that im only ever gonna see tarmac or only small bits of gravel, i will fly by past of some of the roadies

Andrew Frink says:

Anyone know of a 25-30C tire with some knobs on the shoulders? mainly for use on road and crushed limestone. All of these gravel tires are too wide to fit in my “standard” road bike.

veloriderkm says:

Panaracer, Teravail, Schwalbe. This feels like it should be a top 8 or perhaps another video for “Top 5 650b gravel tires”

Ben Sachs says:

Great list! The Specialized Triggers may not have the hipster appeal of something like Terravail, but they have been performing admirably for hundreds of riders in the midwest for years. Tried and true indeed.
