Tested: Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 in Winter | Tire Rack

Timing may be everything. Certainly in the Ultra High Performance All-Season category the timing was right for Continental when they launched the original ExtremeContact DWS. Six years later it’s time for their next Ultra High Performance All-Season tire, the ExtremeContact DWS 06.

Does this new design offer more than just a strong family resemblance? We test it against three of the newest and top-performing tires in the category and also learn how well its winter performance stacks up against the others.

With 40K+ on my DWS’s, I can say overall this is the best of ultra high performance all season category. It did lose it’s snow prowness after 32K(handled under 6″ snow very well), but it is still excellent in dry/wet conditions. Ride quality was very comfortable at it’s early stages, but now a lot less so. Feels like I’m driving on rocks on all but the smoothist surfaces. All told, I will be getting another set soon.
