It’s an interesting topic this….. I’ve been running a Dunlop front and Michelin rear and it’s been fine. The front is pretty worn out so I’ve ordered a Michelin to match the rear. At the end of the day it’s two pieces of rubber, assuming neither is worn how can one affect the other. Having said that I would always prefer matching brands but I won’t change a tyre that’s not worn just to match brands.

Paul Malyjurek says:

No never mix and match tyres, Is my view and having good tread doesn’t mean the tyres are good they can be squared off… In general tyres are not that expensive compared to the cost of fuel and how much you need (roughly 4 tankfulls for a front tyre) , but having bad grip causes accidents maybe this is why the bike went down the road rubber side up…

Deano B says:

Bikes definitely not, my car has 2 different types and never felt any difference.

Tom Tilley says:

tbh i think it’s good advice not to mix tire’s and for as you exsplaind ..love your video’s so high five and have a great weekend

GTs Garage says:

I have mis-matched tyres on my project bike, and doesn’t make a difference to me, but then I’m not going round the twisties banked at 60 degrees either.

Robert McDougall says:

Hi Mark, i would never mix tyres myself. metzelers roadtec 01springs to mind being specifically designed for the front to disperse water in a particular way to compliment the rear !!

Paul Ford says:

I like you have always changed both tyres if I am switching brand. I also would not mix a sports touring tyre, and a sports tyre. They can have different profiles, even from the same manufacturer

Matt Gibson says:

I have no expertise what so ever, but I make you right, think I would be uncomfortable mixing them

GAZ-MEDIA says:

I would say it’s best to stick to the same Brand tires for the back and front as this will give you the most predictable handling.
