How It’s Made Wheels and Tires. MAXION Flexible Wheel with MICHELIN ACORUS Technology Reinventing the wheel – Bends but does not break
Factory Design. Innovation has always been part of Michelin’s genetic code – driving mobility and tyre developments for more than 100 years. Now with MICHELIN ACORUS Technology, in partnership with Maxion Wheels, Michelin is reinventing the wheel to help eliminate road-based damage to tyres and rims.
Michelin How to make flexible a wheels. The patented new technology, developed by Michelin and Maxion Wheels for the passenger car wheel market, incorporates two flexible rubber flanges mounted on a special wheel body to create a flexible wheel that improves the ride and comfort and also absorbs impacts from potholes and kerbs. The new wheel is compatible with all tyres on the market and comprises an alloy rim – which is narrower than normal, two rubber flanges and an optional cosmetic insert to protect the alloy wheel.
In tests with a 285/30R21 tyre driven through a pothole*, the standard rim version punctured the tyre at 28kph whereas the Flexible Wheel with the MICHELIN ACORUS Technology did not puncture, or sustain damage at any speed.

0:10 I think your tire’s a little low.
what happens if you hit a nail?
We could use this in Pittsburgh. Some of the streets there are atrocious. Then some of them are very steep also.
There are better options…
Like this new Technology ? Are There potholes and kerbs in your city?
why dont you get this extra cushion of rubber by using one inch smaller rims?
Lol, the funniest part in this video is that they all spell MICHELIN different.
I wonder how well these tyres will retain their pressure over time. There are already tyre pressure monitoring systems fitted in a lot of new cars. I wonder if the next step will be compressor systems to maintain optimum tyre pressures in what might turn out to be a leaky wheel!
exactly the same as using smaller wheels with larger tire sidewalls. this is retarded.
they definitely nailed the “douche look” with the driver lol.
I got a 15 ” wheel. Got plenty of rubber on sideways.
I run a tire store and this low pro stuff sucks any way! I would love to punch the shit that came out with them!!
Just drive till explode
that’s awesome
Let’s talk about cornering behaviour…
I can guarantee that a tractor wheel has never suffered from this problem. Put tractor tyres on all cars. Problem solved and no need to fix potholes. You’re welcome.
y u cant make the rubber area too big and the alloy small
yet another awesome wheel tech that stupid tyre monkeys will not know how to fit and therefore hate….
The idea is great but
1- how much does it cost?
2- how do they perform in high speed?
3- how do the perform in the corners?
4- how long does a single tire lasts?
this is amazing
Those tires are more expensive than my whole car
Hover Cars do it better.
Take a look at 2:00 on this video something is off
or slow down?
class action lawsuit is waiting to happen due to safety issues and blow ups
People will hate but this is bad ass
i needed this a couple months ago lol
