Meguiars Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner | Is It Worth It? | FocusOnDetail

First off I need to correct myself. Near the end of the video I state that Meguiars Hot Rims Factory Equipped Wheel Cleaner can’t be used on painted rims. That is actually incorrect. It CAN be used on painted rims if they are like that from the factory or properly clear coated. Wheels and callipers that are painted without a proper clear coat may be affected.

This is my first video relating to my new idea of testing and comparing car detailing products called, ‘Is It Worth It?’. This video dedicated to Meguiars Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner.

I don’t think I’d ever say a particular car cleaning product is not worth buying but some have proven to be better than others taking into consideration their value for money and the job they can do. I’m not here to bad mouth any products just informing others that may be interested in buying a particular car cleaning item.

Ahmed Dhalech says:

This review convinced me to attempt a proper rim and tyre detail so I recently cleaned the rims on a Hilux with the same product. The only difference was I didn’t hose the rim down first cos I felt it might dilute the product and reduce how effective it would be. Managed to get it looking like new again, even the parts behind the spokes. The trick was to use a firm toothbrush instead of a paint brush. It’s the first time I’ve used a Meguiar’s product cos they’re a bit expensive here in South Africa, but I was very impressed and think it’s worth the money. Thanks for the review and keep them coming.

How are those DBA T slot rotors going? gonna get some for my Beemer.

Aussie Pom says:

For cleaning the insides of the wheels on the G6E I use Amoral Heavy Duty truck wash to remove the accumulated brake dust and bits of tar. I use an old soft bristled hand brush and to get clean those areas near to the wheel hub I use a long handled narrow pastry brush. The pastry brush and truck wash are readily available in the local IGA supermarket and cheaper than at an auto store. The truck wash has no detrimental effects on the paint work. You can also apply a coat of cheap polish for a quick shine if you wish.

Erik M says:
