Read Vital’s Review of the Assegai – https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/We-Ride-Greg-Minnaars-Maxxis-Tire-The-Assegai,2301
Designed by World Champion downhiller Greg Minnaar, the Maxxis Assegai is a predictable, heavy-duty mountain bike tire that is suited for aggressive, descent-oriented riding. It’s available in 27.5 and 29-inch diameters with 2.5-inch widths. Right now, DH casing is all that’s available and at 1320g, our 29-inch version was not light. It did, however, provide extreme stability and traction when the terrain got fast and rough. The downside was the weight penalty and slow rolling characterstics on the way up. If you’re looking to turn your trail or enduro bike into a descent-specific machine, the Maxxis Assegai could be the ticket. Retail price is $90 USD.

I’ve always been more of an ass guy. Maybe this tire will be worth checking out.
He had it on the Arch’s which are less than the recommended 30-35 ID, wonder how it would have felt with wider rims and lower psi
Thumbs up for using one of our local trails.. 😀
Me likey! Waiting for Trail version Exo 3C Maxxterra TR, abc efg yada yada…
where is this trail? Peavine hill?
Well done, great video, great review.
Is it better as a front or a rear? Pairing it with an Aggressor DD out back could help with the rolling speed.
ive already suscribed so dont tell me how to live my life
Would be a sick tire for what I ride.
Ass – guy
Excelente video Saludos desde México soy fan suyo
Assegai is a weapon used by the Zulu warriors back in the day. Basically a wooden club. And a hell of a killing machine. Now it’s killing mountains. Pronounced: Ass-a-Guy… Lovely.
Hope they bring it out in a max terra exo to go with my aggressor DD wt
Probably the best tyre review ive seen ! The rider knows his stuff
Why does the industry gouge us? Tire looks nice, but car tires are cheaper for the amount of rubber. $90.00 is just ludacris, car tires last years, granted they aren’t being abused. The best of the best bike tires should max out at $60.00. I guess if people keep paying, they will keep gouging. Glad to see Goodyear and other tire manufacturers coming in and hopefully driving the prices down..
